The number of temporary workers has doubled in Romania over the past two years, according to a survey conducted by the Romanian Association of Temporary Work Agencies (ARAMT). At present there are an estimated 52,000 temporary workers in the country.
According to the survey, temporary employment is used predominately by companies in the manufacturing sector (47%) and the services sector (32%).
Most of temporary workers (46%) have graduated from high school and 23% have higher education. A fifth are university students. Only 12% do not have high school diploma.
Almost half (45%) of all temporary work contracts in Romania run for more than three months, 37% run between one and three months, and 18% of one month.
