Philippines – Government bans employers and shuts down illegal recruiters

18 December 2012

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration last week banned eight foreign employers from hiring Filipino workers for grave misconduct and gross violations of local laws on overseas employment.

It also revoked the license of an employment agency, Amazon International Manpower Specialist for violating regulations.

The firms that have been disqualified include Lae International Hospital Ltd, Al Yagoot Recruitment Office, Al Huda Engineering Works, First Kuwaiti Trading Corporation, Al Asmi Manpower Services, Around the World Services/Proactive HR Solutions, Hanjin Trading Company, and Saweed Employment.

In a separate announcement, the government body said that it had also shut the offices of a local staffing firm on grounds of illegal employment. The offices of MYM International Manpower Agency were padlocked after the firm recruited Filipino workers without possessing a license.
