More than a third (35%) of employees work from home at some point each month, according to a new Work Life survey from ManpowerGroup. The reason most people give for working at home is that they can get work done more efficiently.
Maalfrid Brath, Managing Director of ManpowerGroup Norway, commented: “Working conditions are becoming more flexible, in line with technological developments that allow full access to work from home. At the same time there are many good reasons to be present in the workplace, and not work from home, among other things to build relationships and a strong corporate culture.”
Four in 10 workers say that they are unable to work from home as their job does not allow for it, however 7% of employees say that they work from home more than 10 days per month, while most are only able to do so one or two days per month. Only 13% would prefer to work at the office more.
“A great many employees appreciate having the opportunity to work from home. In the survey, six out of 10 appreciate the flexibility of not having regular office hours. At the same time, a third want a clearer distinction between work and free time. It must be a flexible situation that can be customised to suit different needs,” Ms Brath added.
