According to the latest Labour Force Survey published today by Statistics Norway (SSB) the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Norway was 3.3% in December 2009, up by 0.1 percentage points (3,000 persons) compared to September 2009.
After a period of decline, the employment level increased by 9,000 persons in December 2009 when compared to September 2009.
In comparison, seasonally-adjusted figures for those registered unemployed with the Labour and Welfare Organisation (NAV) rose by about 1,000 from September to December 2009. Including persons on government initiatives to promote employment there was a total increase of 4,000. These figures have also been adjusted for seasonal variations.
