Norway — Temporary employment up by + 5% y-o-y in Q2 2010

31 August 2010

The latest Staffing Barometer (Bemanningsbarometeret) published by the National Federation of Service Industries (NHO Service) reveals that the number of hours worked by temporary employees was up by +5% to 9,259,265 hours in Q2 2010 compared to Q2 2009.

NHO Service's Head of Division, Even Hagelien, said "this is the first time in seven quarters that we see growth in the staffing industry. It is worth adding that this growth happened during a quarter when the staffing industry was hampered by several strikes and the volcanic ash disaster. Otherwise, growth would have been greater."

The Barometer also analyses developments in the staffing industry in 2009 when a total number of 35.3 million temporary employment working hours were billed to final clients by temporary employment agencies. This was a decrease of -18.3% compared to 2008.
