Norway – Staffing industry headhunting best temps

15 October 2012

The Norwegian staffing industry is on the lookout to find the country’s best temporary worker, highlighting the importance of flexible staff in Norway’s labour market.

The initiative is supported by the National Federation of Service Industries (NHO) and managed by ManpowerGroup. According to them, the best temporary worker is reliable, flexible, and stands out both professionally and academically.

Any temporary worker can enter the competition regardless of whether they are employed by a staffing agency or directly by an employer. Temporary workers can only be nominated and so far there have been hundreds of applications.

“This is a very good initiative we are supporting. The competition is a great way to highlight the staffing industry's makeup of great and gifted workers,” said Even Hagelien of the NHO.

The jury is made up of representatives from the NHO, IKEA, ManpowerGroup and insurance provider Gjensidige Forsikring. The competition will come to an end next week on 25 October.

“Without temporary workers Norway would come to a halt! They represent 10% of the labour force in Norway and undertake vital jobs in the workplace today. We know there are many talented and great temporary workers out there who deserve to be acknowledged,” said executive director of ManpowerGroup Norway, Thor Bendik Weider.

The winner wins a trip to New York for two. Nominations can be made on www.manpower.no
