Norway – Shifts in market ranking among major staffing firms

24 April 2013

The Norwegian Staffing Association (NHO Services) led by Even Hagelien has published its annual list of the largest 25 Norwegian staff companies in 2012, who represented 89% of the turnover in the national market.

Adecco is shown first in the list with revenue of NOK 3.3 billion (€435 million) or 23% of market share. However, ManpowerGroup with revenue of NOK 3.2 billion (€422 million) is now the largest staffing firm following its purchase of Workshop Staffing and Competence in February 2013 which appears in the list separately. Together they have a combined market share of 25%.

“This acquisition of Workshop allows ManpowerGroup Norway to increase its market share within this industry sector, and is part of our long-term strategy to dominate this market. We are celebrating that we are number one on the list”, says Managing Director of ManpowerGroup Norway, Maalfrid Brath.

Adecco and ManpowerGroup combined now account for nearly half of the total market

In third, fourth and fifth place are Jobzone, Proffice AS and ISS Personalhuset market shares of 7%, 7% and 4% respectively.

NHO estimate that the staffing industry in Norway had a total value of NOK 14.5 billion (€1.9 billion) last year with the construction sector making the largest contribution. The estimate implies an annual growth rate of 11% over 2011.
