Axel Springer, the owner of online job board StepStone, has decided to shut down all sales activities in the Netherlands, effective immediately, reports de Telegraaf. The Dutch office will close and the 17 members of staff currently working for the company will lose their jobs.
Mirjam Aardoom, Country Manager for StepStone Netherlands, told de Telegraaf: “The goal was to be a market leader within two years, a growth strategy that has not been met.”
Local and international contracts with existing clients will now be serviced through StepStone’s Belgian offices. Jobseekers whose CV are currently uploaded to the Dutch site will continue to have full access, as the Dutch website will be unaffected by the closure.
According to research from Staffing Industry Analysts, the Dutch staffing market is expected to remain stable throughout 2014 following a estimated decline of -7% in 2013.
