Dutch banking group ABN AMRO expects the country’s staffing industry “will at best stabilise” this year, following news on Tuesday that revenues in the recruitment sector continued to fall last month.
Data from the Dutch association of employment agencies (ABU) yesterday showed that staffing companies posted lower revenues in January with sales falling -2% when compared to a year ago. The number of hours worked in the staffing sector meanwhile dropped by -3%. Revenues fell in the medical, administrative and technical sectors.
In response, the Dutch bank said revenue in the staffing industry might stabilise although the financial institute does not exclude a slight drop in sales this year. However, Staffing Industry Analysts does not expect the Dutch staffing market to return to growth this year with forecasts indicating a single-digit decline for 2013.
