Dutch staffing company Randstad will switch to using Google’s ‘Apps for Business’, a cloud-based productivity suite, for all its 29,000 employees. Around 8,000 Randstad staff in France, Japan and India are already on Google.
The rollout will simplify the email and collaboration systems used in over 40 countries worldwide.
“With so many employees in locations across the world, we had several different email and collaboration systems in place and were looking to standardize,” said Martijn Nykerk, senior consultant at Randstad, in Google’s enterprise blog.
Previously, the recruiter used Microsoft Outlook for email and Lotus Notes for collaboration, but encountered problems related to the integration of other systems. “Both Outlook and Lotus Notes are primarily hosted solutions, which makes it difficult to collaborate across our many locations,” said Mr Nykerk.
The firm decided on using Google because its tools are all integrated and the company’s workforce was already familiar with its tools. The firm is currently in the middle of its rollout which will eventually include all 29,000 Randstad employees.
