ManpowerGroup wants to help 1,200 jobseekers find employment this year. The firm has therefore partnered with the Dutch UWV, a public agency where the unemployed register to claim their benefits.
The staffing company has entered into an agreement with the UWV to increase the employability of jobless people. The firm will function as a mediator and target those having difficulties entering the labour market, particularly those aged 55+ or people who have been out of work for over three months.
This follows a national covenant between the Dutch federation of private employment agencies (ABU) and the UWV last year. The agreement outlined plans to reintegrate the unemployed into the job market by increasing collaboration between the two parties. ManpowerGroup Netherlands is a member firm of ABU and one of the first staffing companies to adopt the measures.
The UWV now hopes that other recruiters will follow suit. The agreement has received praise by the European Commission and could set an example to other EU countries to adopt similar agreements.
