Netherlands – Dutch workers most satisfied with their working environment

20 December 2013

A third of Dutch workers are satisfied with their working environment, and as a result, are more motivated, according to a study of more than 5,400 workers from nine European countries by recruitment firm Stepstone.

According to the survey, only 15% of Danish and British workers responded that they were satisfied with their working environment. More than half reported that they were disappointed with the relationships they had with colleagues.

Two years ago only 58% of workers in Europe responded that they felt they worked in a positive environment. Today that number has risen to 64%, indicating that the working environment across Europe has improved.

In 2011, Europe was still under the cloud of recession, resulting in increased pressure at work and a palpable fear of redundancy. In the two years since, labour market conditions across Europe have stabilised and are now giving positive indications of further improvement.
