The tiny but extremely wealthy Mediterranean principality is suffering from an acute shortage of nurses, carers for the elderly and pharmaceutical assistants. Just like in neighbouring France, the health sector is beginning to find itself in a situation where patients cannot be treated due to a lack of service personnel, Maville Monaco reports.
Traditionally the Monegasque health service has been recruiting nurses and other carers from across the border in France where large University Hospitals like CHU Nice have been using temporary employment agencies for years in order to cope with their staffing shortages.
The French specialist recruitment agency L'Appel Medical has just opened an office in Monaco's capital Monte Carlo, which concentrates on finding local and foreign nurses for the health sector.
Laurent Goolen, Director at L'Appel Medical de Monaco said "our new specialist medical recruitment agency office in the principality offers a real opportunity for the Monegasque health service to respond to their recruitment requirements both in terms of staff shortages and staff replacements."
