Japan – Nursing agency to increase profit for ninth straight year

As part of a report published by Nihon Keizai Shimbun looking at the rise in the Nikkei Health Care Sector whose stock has risen by an average  of +14% since the end of 2011, focus was placed on Sixth-ranked firm SMS Co.

According to report, SMS specializes in jobs for nurses and caregivers, and predicts that the company’s operating profit will rise for the ninth straight year in fiscal 2012. 

SMS was founded in 2003 and now has 500 employees working through 17 offices in Japan. The company operates under the brand Pure Nurse among others and also has operations in other Asian markets such as Vietnam, Taipei and South Korea.

The company is expanding its staffing and e-learning business and recently bought a social media site that counts 70% of all nurses in South Korea as members.
