The number of hours worked was approximately 25.6 million during the month, an increase of 4.1% year on year.  The number of hours worked per worker increased by +2.4% on an annual basis. The unemployment rate in Italy during September was 12.5%, an increase of +0.1% from the previous month and an increase of +1.6% compared with September 2012.

Temporary employment accounted for 1.21% of the workforce in September 2013, against 1.16% in September 2012.  As highlighted in our seminar last week (available to subscribers), Staffing Industry Analysts believes the market will improve and may swing to as much as 5% growth in 2014.
