Italy — 60% of companies not familiar with regulatory framework of mothers at work

New research carried out on behalf of a pilot project called Moms@Work run by staffing firm Gi Group in collaboration with the Italian Association for Personnel Management (AIDP), reveals that 60% of companies surveyed in the Milan area admit to knowing little about the regulatory environment, which facilitates the work and life balance for Italian mothers and only 10% had actually heard about the specific legislation (article 9 of law 53/200).

72% demand better management systems in terms of company or sector agreements and two thirds ask for better public facilities in terms of nursery schools.

Anna Zavaritt, Gi Group Consultant for the Moms@Work project, said "we hope that our debate will lay the groundwork for regulatory simplification, which will help employers and female employees to reduce the 27% drop-out rate after the birth of the first child."
