Earlier this week, Annemarie Muntz, the President of Eurociett (the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies) met with the Greek Minister of Social Security and Welfare, Ioannis Vrousis.
The main focus of the meeting was to discuss agency work regulation in Greece and the need to lift existing and unjustified restrictions. Minister Vrousis announced during the meeting that some reforms of the national regulation on temporary agency work will be implemented, lifting unjustified restrictions the industry is currently still facing.
He also announced that this could be a first step towards more appropriate regulation on temporary agency work in Greece and the establishment of a more dynamic and adaptable labour market. At the same time, he stressed that more action is needed to improve the acceptance of agency work in Greece and to enhance the recognition of the contribution that agency work can provide to a well-functioning labour market.
