Germany — Temporary employment up by +23.6%, year-on-year

The latest Temporary Employment Index (IW-Zeitarbeitsindex), published by the Association of Temporary Employment Agencies (BZA) and the Institute of the German Economy (IW), reveals that temporary employment was up by +8% in March 2010 compared to the previous month.


Year-on-year, temporary employment was up by +23.6% or +138,000 individuals to 720,000 temporary employees in March 2010 compared to March 2009.

The panel of companies surveyed by IW forecasts that temporary employment in Q2 and Q3 2010 will grow by +11%. This compares to a December 2009 forecast of +6% growth for Q1 and Q2 2010.
