Federal Employer’s Association of Personnel Service (BAP) CEO Thomas Hetz has stated that the General Assembly’s refusal to allow its merger with the Temporary Workers Association (iGZ) is a missed opportunity for the industry.
Speaking at a press conference in Berlin, Mr Hetz regretted the decision. Unlike iGZ, BAP was overwhelmingly in favour of the merger, emphasising the importance of the temporary employment sector speaking with one voice, especially in the run up to the Bundestag election.
According to Mr Hetz, an alliance between the two associations could prevent further state regulation, with tightening legislation putting thousands of jobs at risk.
