Germany – Manpower sees weak recruitment demand

ManpowerGroup has released its employment barometer for Germany, indicating that only 9% of employers intend to recruit within the next three months. 4% of employers are expecting to reduce staffing levels with 86% of employers expecting no change in employment to September 2013.

Over 1,000 companies in Germany were surveyed; with those in the North and East have a more optimistic employment outlook than those in the South and West of the country.

Of Germany’s largest economic areas, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich report positive employment intentions, whereas the Ruhr area reported an expected -7% drop in employment.

Construction was the only industry to report negative hiring trends with a drop of -3%. The biggest increases are expected in finance (+12%) and mining and resources (+11%).
