Germany — Last temporary employers association signs minimum salary agreement

06 May 2010

As the third and last temporary employers association, iGZ has yesterday signed a minimum salary agreement with the relevant unions. Temporary employers associations BZA and AMP have signed similar agreements earlier this year. All three employer associations together represent 95% of the industry, German business daily Handelsblatt reports.

The minimum salary for temporary employees in the Western Federal States will be 7.56 Euro. In the Eastern Federal States it will be 6.62 Euro. Both minimum salaries will be gradually increased up until the year 2012.

The agreements also contain clauses against the recently highly publicised abuse of in-house temporary employees. AMP President Peter Mumme commented, "the Schlecker scandal has done a lot of damage to the reputation of temporary employment agencies. The newly signed agreements should prevent such abuse in the future."
