Career starters can benefit from jobs offered by temporary staffing firms as 10% of vacancies are currently filled by those kick-starting their careers. This is according to new data by the federal labour agency (BA).
“Young professional can find a non-bureaucratic entry into work via temporary staffing. They are profiting from the flexibility of our industry and the diversity of our customers who come from various employment sectors,” said Volker Enkerts, head of the German federation of staffing companies (BAP).
The German staffing industry shows a strong presence of blue-collar workers while those with higher education qualifications still remain a minority. Internships are a popular option for graduates to gain work experience, but Mr Enkerts believes that a temporary job could be a better alternative.
“In contrast with most internships, temporary agency work generally involves jobs that pay for social contributions,” he said. Graduates could therefore receive higher salaries, he added.
