The crisis in the banking sector has left a mark on the financial services industry of Germany. According to the latest job index published by staffing giant Adecco, the largest number of job offers for financial specialists between January and October did not come from the banking sector, nor were they based in Frankfurt.
The analysis is based on job offers in 40 different publications across the whole of Germany and shows that most job offers for financial specialists came from property development/management firms and were based in Berlin.
However, even in Berlin the number of job offers for financial specialists was down by 44.5% to 2,384. Next in line were Bavaria (1,607), North-Rhine-Westphalia (1,572) and Hamburg (1,032).
Hessen with Germany's financial services centre, Frankfurt, ended up in 7th position with only 805 job offers between January and October this year.
Job offers for graduates in the financial services industry were down by 49.4% to 2,152 compared to 7,708 job offers for people with a vocational training (i.e. non-university based) where negative growth only amounted to 37.3%.
