Germany – Excellence AG appoints new CEO

18 October 2013

Engineering and project services specialist recruiters Excellence AG have announced the appointment of Vera Calasan as company CEO. Ms Calasan joins the company from ManpowerGroup Germany.

The company recently moved its headquarters to Dusseldorf, close to the headquarters for the Association of German Engineers (VDI). New officers will open in Munich, Hamburg, and Frankfurt in November, with four additional sites opening within a year.

Pieter Wegman, Chairman of Excellence AG, commented: “We are continuing with our expansion and are delighted that we have appointed the Germany-wide recognised corporate driver Vera Calasan as our CEO.”

The need for specialised engineers who are able to perform complex tasks within the industry is increasing disproportionately indicating a skills shortage. Nevertheless, Ms Casalan doesn’t see this as an obstacle to their ambitious growth targets.

She said: “There is no shortage of engineers in Germany. The current problems filling vacancies are mainly due to the fact that market players have not adapted well to the conditions of today’s labour market. The companies depend on the quixotic notion of an ideal employee. Few are open to foreign employees or cross-industry information exchanges.”

“German companies need solutions for the increasing complexity of technological development in order to survive in the global market. They need cross-industry information exchanges. That can only be facilitated by an engineering service provider. A whole new industry has been developed here. For Germany as an industrial engineer, I see tremendous growth potential for the industry,” she concluded.

I can only agree with Ms Calasan. There is no shortage of engineers. It is bizarre what is happening in German HR-departments. Countless positions keep being vacant because everyone is looking in vain for perfectly matching candidates.

Considering the harsh reaction, someone in the management of Manpower seems to hold a real grudge against Ms Calasan, but I guess it is inevitable to tread on somebodies toes while being in an executive position. Whether the accusations will prove true remains to be seen. I have my honest doubts though.

I worked closely with Frau Calasan. In my opinion she was some kind of a puppet on a string of Manpower HQ and the European Chef who both showed they didn't had a clue about the German business! Frau Calasan was the best Chief ManpowerGroup GmbH had in years and therefore i am sure Excellence AG made an excellent choice!

The problem for Manpower is not the German management. The constant saving plans and Mr Leentjes is the ruin for the Manpower culture. Manpower needs a new European Leader

Frau Calasan has ruined ManpowerGroup GmbH in less than 3 years and will ruin Excellence AG. Good luck for the stakeholders... They will need it.
