According to the latest figures published today by the French National Statistics Institute (INSEE) the unemployment rate (as defined by the International Labour Office) in France including her dominions overseas reached 9.5% in the third quarter of 2009.
The unemployment rate in France excluding overseas dominions was 9.1% representing 2.6 million individuals, which shows no change over the previous quarter and therefore a stabilisation in the labour market.
In the third quarter of 2009, there were 3.3 million job seekers in France excluding overseas dominions, which includes those people who are not available within a period of two weeks to start work and those who are not making an active effort to find work but are registered as job seekers.
