France — Temporary employment up by 8.5% in Q3 2009

The latest figures published by DARES on behalf of the Ministry for the Economy and the Ministry for Labour, temporary employment was up by 8.5% or an extra 36,900 in Q3 2009 to 473,500 when compared to the previous quarter.

In Q2 2009 temporary employment had experienced modest growth of 0.6% after four quarters of strong negative growth. Compared to Q3 2008, however, temporary employment in Q3 2009 is down by -20.4%.

The strongest growth in Q3 2009 over the previous quarter was registered in industry with 10.3% growth or an extra 17,400 temporary jobs.

The tertiary sector grew by 8.5% or an extra 13,600 temporary jobs. Temporary employment was up even in the construction industry with 5.8% growth or an extra 6,200 jobs.
