France — Temporary employment up by +24.3% year-on-year

The latest seasonally adjusted statistics for April 2010 published by the government's job centres (Pole Emploi), reveal that the number of temporary employees at the end of April was up by +1.5% or +9,000 individuals to 591,500 compared to March 2010.

Year-on-year, temporary employment was up by +24.3% or +115,800 individuals.

Temporary employment among unqualified labourers was up by +30.6% year-on-year. It was up by +22.5% among qualified labourers, up by +16.1% among white collar workers and up by +19.4% among managers.

Temporary employment was up in 17 of France's 22 regions. The strongest growth was in the Franche-Comte region, where temporary employment grew by +62.5% followed by Champagne-Ardenne with +41.8% and Rhone-Alpes with +34.4%.
