France — Temporary employment up by +19% year-on-year

According to the latest data published today by Dares on behalf of the government, there were 524,000 temporary employees in France in total at the end of Q1 2010. This is an increase of +6.2% or + 30,400 individuals compared to Q4 2009.

Year-on-year, temporary employment was up by +19% or +85,400 individuals in Q1 2010 compared to the same period last year.


Month-on-month, temporary employment in industry was up by +10.2% or +10,300 individuals. In the services sector temporary employment was up by +5.8% or +10,300 individuals during the same period whilst temporary employment in construction was down by -0.8% or -800 individuals.

The volume of temporary employment, in terms of full-time job equivalent, was up more moderately than the number of temporary employees and rose by +3% compared to the previous quarter.
