France — Temporary employment rises by +5% in Q4 2009

The latest statistics on the temporary employment sector published today by the government's official job centres (Pole Emploi) reveal that temporary employment in the fourth quarter of 2009 was up by +5% or 23,500 temporary employees to 493,600 compared to the previous quarter.

After stabilising in Q2 2009 with a growth rate of +1.5% compared to the previous quarter, temporary employment grew by +5.6% in Q3 2009 compared to the previous quarter.
 
Compared to Q4 2008, temporary employment was down in Q4 2009 by -3.6% or -18,600 temporary employees.
 
In manufacturing, temporary employment grew by +8.6% or +16,000 temporary employees in Q4 2009 compared to the previous quarter.
 
In the services sector, temporary employment grew by +3.5% or +6,000 temporary employees in Q4 2009 compared to the previous quarter.
 
In the construction industry, temporary employment grew more moderately by +1.2% or +1,300 temporary employees in Q4 2009 compared to the previous quarter.
