The National Institute for Statistics and Economic Research (INSEE) has today published revised employment figures for the third quarter of 2009. Figures published earlier did not include companies with less than 10 employees.
Employment was down by -0.4% over the second quarter of 2009. Compared to the third quarter of 2008, employment was down by -2.2%.
Employment in profit-oriented sectors was down by -0.6% over the second quarter of 2009 and down by -2.7% over the third quarter of 2008.
Employment in sectors, which are not profit-oriented (public administration, education, health and social services) was up by 0.7% compared to the second quarter of 2009. On a year-on-year basis employment in these sectors was up by 2.1% compared to the third quarter of 2008.
The strongest growth sector in the labour market was temporary employment, which was up by 8.5% compared to the second quarter of 2009. On a year-on-year basis, however, temporary employment was down by -20.4% when compared to the third quarter of 2008.
