France — Number of long-term temporary employees rises slightly

21 May 2010

New research carried out by market research firm (BVA) on behalf of the Association of Temporary Employers (Prisme) reveals that in 2010 only 66% of temporary employees who got their jobs one year ago are still in employment today. This compares to 75% in the previous year.

Prisme explain in a statement "this fall is due to the fact that permanent employment is down compared to last year. Only 12% of temporary employees who got their jobs one year ago are now in permanent employment. In the previous year this figure was 22%."

"The number of people who moved from temporary employment to contract work has decreased only slightly to 9% from 8% in the previous year and the number of people who after one year are still in temporary employment actually rose to 46% compared to 44% in the previous year."
