The latest Labour Market Barometer published by the Association for the Employment of Managers (APEC), reveals that 50% of companies interviewed have employed at least one manager during the first three months of 2010.
The figure is 6% higher than it was during the first three months of 2009 and 43% of employers intend to employ in the second three months of 2010, which is 7 percentage points higher than during the same period last year.
The positive market sentiment is particularly noticeable in commerce and transport as well as in engineering and research and development.
Hiring intentions equally apply to industry but less strongly so. In banking, insurance and IT hiring intentions were stable compared to the same period last year.
In any case, employers are seeking experienced managers and have currently little interest in young graduates.
