In a DVD broadcast sent out to all members of staff, the President of Manpower France, Francoise Gri says that she expects 2010 to be as atrocious as 2009, according to a report in the HR portal, WK-RH.
WK-RH go on to say that an anti-competition fine will have an impact on the variable bonuses which Manpower France can pay its recruitment consultants during the financial year. On 26 January 2010, the Paris Court of Appeal condemned Manpower France to pay a fine of 28 million Euro for anti-competition practices with competitors Adecco and Randstad (VediorBis). Manpower head-office has to pay a further 14 million Euro for the same offence. Adecco and Randstad were also fined large sums of money.
Even though the current management is not responsible for the anti-competition practices, they have to deal with the fine.
According to the CFTC Union, a further problem during the year will be understaffing at the agency. The Union claim that there are not enough human resources at Manpower to cope with the extra workload caused by the contracts Manpower France has received from the French job centres 'Pole Emploi' to find jobs for officially registered unemployed people.
Francoise Gri comments "more than 270 full-time employment consultants are working for the job seekers. More than 8,000 support contracts (chartes d'accompagnement) have been signed by now."
