France – Greater job availability in the East

17 January 2014

The regions of France-Comté and Burgundy are the best places to find a job in France, according to online job board Qapa. In contrast, Languedoc-Roussillon and Nord-Pas-de-Calais are the worst places to find work with strong competition to find a job.

Stéphanie Delestre, founder of Qapa.fr, commented: “Each month we analyse data from our 1.5 million jobseekers and our 70,000 job offers. We can provide an analysis of the labour market that is closer to reality.”

The border regions of eastern France are best places for unemployed people to find work; [primarily due to the number of industrial enterprises and the cross border interaction with foreign companies]. The Rhône-Alpes region reports a good ratio between the number of jobs available and the number of candidates looking for work.

Unemployment in France currently sits at 10.8%, marginally below the EU and Eurozone averages of 10.9% and 12.1%, respectively, according to the latest figures from Eurostat.
