France — Finance, IT and sales are doing well in the crisis

21 December 2009

Even though the economic crisis has hit France hard, staffing agencies have identified three industry sectors, which are holding up remarkably well.

Isabelle Rivard of staffing agency Expectra told French daily L'Express, that "financial management, especially credit management and debt recovery are still strong sectors. Sales is doing well and information technology is the sector which has done best in this current crisis."

Emmanuel Louzier of staffing agency Michael Page said "the market has got better since April but both job candidates and companies need a lot of re-assurance and they get a maximum amount of information about each other before they make a decision."

"The energy business recruits and so does biotechnology and the 'green' industry", Louzier says further.

Isabelle Rivard adds "staffing agencies at the moment need one or two months more than before the crisis to get an employment contract signed because clients have multiplied the number of interviews they want with candidates and they do all sort of tests and insist on lots of references."
