The Court of Appeal has yesterday confirmed the February 2009 decision by the French Competition Council (Conseil de la Concurrence) to fine four temporary staffing agencies for anti-competition practices between March 2003 and November 2004.
The Competition Council had fined Adecco France 32.5 million Euro, Adecco subsidiary Adia 1.7 million Euro, Manpower 42 million Euro (14 million Euro for Manpower France and 28 million Euro for Manpower France Holding) and VediorBis 18.2 million Euro.
The Competition Council explained that the companies in question had "frequently co-ordinated their commercial and pricing policies towards key accounts such as Eiffage, La Poste, Alstom, EDF, Servair, Galeries Lafayette and Alcan."
Adecco and Adia France announced yesterday that they will not appeal against the Court of Appeal's decision. As of 31 December 2008, Adecco had already recorded a provision for the total amount of the fine.>
