Finland - Pay up by +5.3% y-o-y

The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was +5.3% greater in the past June to August period than in the corresponding period twelve months earlier. In August alone, the wages and salaries sum of the whole economy grew by +5.9% year-on-year. In the June to August period one year ago, the wages and salaries sum grew by +2.6%, according to the latest data, published today, by Statistics Finland (Tilastokeskus).

The wages and salaries sum went up in the June to August period in all the industries for which statistics are compiled. The growth was fastest in construction (+8.1%), private health and social work (+7.7%), other services (+6.4%) and trade (+5.9%). The increase was most moderate in financial services where it grew by +3.3%.
 
The wages and salaries sum refers to the sum total of the gross wages and salaries paid to employees without incentive stock options. The wages and salaries sum is influenced by changes in employment and in the earnings level of wage and salary earners.
