The European Commission this week published a sectoral guidance for employment & recruitment agencies to help the staffing industry implement the UN Guiding Principles on business and human rights.
The International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies – a trade body for the global recruitment industry – has been actively involved in the development of the Guide and provided input and information.
“The Guide offers a wealth of knowledge on key issues regarding respect of human rights in connection with the recruiting and employment activities of private employment agencies,” Ciett said. It also offers “practical and flexible examples that are useful and relevant both for large multinational companies and for small and medium-sized agencies.”
The Guide, the organisation added, also recognises the role of Ciett members and their commitment to “the respect of human rights through their good practices and the principles of the Ciett code of conduct, clearly differentiating them from unscrupulous rogue traders.”
