Denmark — One out of six young Danes has worked for a temporary employment agency

19 August 2010

A new nationwide poll conducted by Capacent on behalf of the Danish Chambers of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv) reveals that 23% of Danes aged between 18 and 24 have used temporary employment agencies to find work, while the same is true for 31% of those aged between 25 and 34.

The research also reveals that Danes have a positive image of temporary employment. 54% could imagine working for a temporary employment agency and one in four said that they would be likely to work as a temporary employee if they became unemployed.

Jakob Tietge, Senior Consultant at Dansk Erhverv, commented "the economic boom between 2005 and 2008 was a break-through for the temporary employment sector in Denmark. At the peak of the market almost 2% of all employees in Denmark worked for a temporary employment agency, which means that many have experienced what agency work entails."

"Three out of four interviewees believe that temporary employment can be the first step towards permanent employment, which has created much interest in the sector but the temporary employment industry has also made great efforts to create a safe and attractive environment for temporary employees."
