Denmark – Job market improves slightly

11 June 2013

Danish job board Jobindex has released its latest job market figures, painting a warily optimistic outlook of improving employment opportunities. In May 2013, approximately 17,000 new job advertisements were placed online, an increase of 800 compared with the previous month, and an increase of 2,700 compared with a year ago. These figures have been deemed statistically significant.

Having reached its lowest ebb at the beginning of 2009, job advertisements online numbered only 13,000 new opportunities each month. This rose to an average of 15,000 advertisements per month in 2012, indicating a slow but steady improvement.

The recovery is being driven by a combination of public and private sector employment opportunities. Jobindex cautions that these levels are still considered low and are not indicative of a full job market recovery.
