Humares BV, the Netherlands-based staffing group, has agreed to sell the Belgian arm of its subsidiary XPE Group to Adecco S.A.
The Belgian part of XPE Group focuses on the recruitment, selection and secondment of employees for the engineering and pharmaceutical industry. The activities of XPE Group in The Netherlands will remain part of Humares.
The proceeds from the sale will be used to strengthen Humares' balance sheet and focus on the company's core business in the maritime, technical and industrial sectors.
Analysts have also speculated for a while on the takeover of Dutch staffing services firm USG People by Adecco due to the relative under-representation of the world's largest staffing services firm in the Benelux region.
Adecco's newly appointed Head of Northern Europe Alain Dehaze, who has worked in senior positions at both USG People and Humares in the past, openly told Het Financieel Dagblad, " in major markets Adecco is either number one or number two, except in Benelux and Japan. In Benelux, which is an important market for us, we rank behind Randstad and USG People."
"There aren't many opportunities for us to strengthen our market position in Benelux but USG is one of them. The drawback with USG is that they concentrate 60% on general staffing and 40% on professionals, whereas Adecco focuses completely on professionals"
