Belgium – Temporary employment decreases in June

29 July 2013

The number of worker hours by temporary workers fell by -6.66% in Belgium in June 2013, compared with the same month last year, according to the latest data published by Federgon, the Federation of HR services.

Blue-collar workers (ouvriers) recorded the highest rate of decline: -8.90% in June 2013, compared with a year ago. Comparatively, white-collar workers (employés) fared better as the hours fell by only  -3.32%. In both categories, the highest rates of decline were reached between March and April this year: -13.94% (blue-collar), and -3.94% (white collar) so the decline is moderating.

Finally, the Federgon index reached 200.8 points in June 2013, the lowest value recorded since March 2010. This index reflects the level of activity during the month under review compared to January 1995 (base 100), seasonally adjusted.
