Belgium — Sales managers are doing well in the crisis

Whilst sales managers are having a difficult time finding jobs in large companies, they are still very sought after by small and medium-sized firms, Express reports.

Sales managers who can create customer loyalty and cold-call sales managers are in high demand. Hugues Pariot, Managing Director of staffing agency Expectra, said "sales engineers need to optimise their sales value with each client and try to sell complimentary products. Cold-call sales managers (commerciaux de conquete) need to find new clients and get excited about bonuses without becoming mercenaries."


Sales management is the sector, which is least suffering from the economic crisis but industry prefers seasoned and experienced staff. This is a problem for university leavers. Any practical experience is regarded as useful and Pariot recommends that graduates try to work as interns before entering the actual job market.
