Belgium – Hacking attack on ManpowerGroup website

04 September 2013

The Belgian site of the temporary employment company ManpowerGroup was temporarily the victim of a cyber-attack according to Nieuwsblad.de. Hackers replaced the home page with a series of pornography images. Other Manpowergroup sites, including the general international site, were unaffected.

The pornographic images were only briefly on the ManpowerGroup website, and the site was quickly taken offline. "Our specialists are busy looking for the exact cause of this incident," said ManpowerGroup spokesperson, Marc Vandeleene. "It may take some time, but the situation is under control again. The offending content has been online only ten minutes. We already have a complaint against persons unknown for what happened.

Hacking and denial of service attacks appear to be increasingly common in the staffing sector with several reports of similar events covered in our Daily News, which you can search here using the box in the top right corner.
