The CEO of Austria’s largest staffing firm, Trenkwalder, has been appointed to lead the country’s staffing association (VZA). The VZA elected Klaus Lercher on Wednesday as new president with his predecessor Alexander Praschek, CEO of staffing firm Büroring, becoming vice president.
Mr Lercher has been CEO of Trenkwalder since 2007 with the firm having a strong presence in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2011, the staffing company made €297 million in revenue in the country, making it the largest player in the Austrian staffing market.
“In Austria, staffing firms help 275,000 people into employment each year. They therefore make an enormous contribution to the stabilisation of the labour market and strengthen Austria as a business location,” said Mr Lercher.
“In the past two years, Alexander Praschek has contributed much to the professionalisation of the VZA and made some valuable changes. I will work with him and the entire board to sharpen the profile of our industry as an employer and partner of the Austrian economy.”
Since 2010, the VZA has offered training opportunities to members of the staffing association, having also strengthened its relationship with the International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Ciett).
