A new recruitment site has recently been launched in the Czech Republic to help women with children find high-skilled jobs that offer flexible hours. Generous maternity leave in the country means that women do not have to return to work for years if they do not want to, but this is considered as an “employment shut-down”, hindering women to return to work once they had a baby.
Founder of the website PraceZeny.cz, Petra Janíčková, said: “The Czech Republic is a very chauvinistic country. There is a stereotype that says that women have to stay at home. And those women who decide to have a career are perceived as being unhappy with their family, or as strange, not well-respected, etc.”
