New figures from the Civil Development Forum (FOR) in Poland show that the number of jobs in the public sector is declining because of increased privatisation. The Warsaw Business Journal reports that every fifth person in Poland is working in the public sector, but jobs have fallen by 80,000 to 3.5 million in 2011.
“Moving workers from the public to the private sector is a positive trend because it frees the economy from state institutions and increases its productivity. This process continues year by year, however, its pace is far from satisfactory,” said Aleksander Łaszek, economist at the FOR.
