The Dutch staffing firm Randstad may refocus its attention on the US, which could become the firm’s biggest market this year. Chief executive officer, Ben Noteboom, said in an interview with Bloomberg that an acquisition and the faster economic growth in the US could make it the company’s top market in 2012.
“We are almost back at the previous peak,” Mr Noteboom said. “There is no sign that the rise in penetration will stop” as companies are keen to grow and at the same time maintain their flexibility on the labour market.
Traditionally, France and the Netherlands have been Randstad’s biggest markets but recently the firm has extended its presence in the US after acquiring SFN Group Inc. for US$771 million last year. The job growth and stable unemployment rate in the country are also contributing factors that could lead to the US becoming Randstad’s biggest market this year.
