IT companies in India are increasing hiring intention in the US at the same time as outsourcing companies face problems in placing Indian workers to client locations in the US, the Wall Street Journal writes.
Indian outsourcing companies have been blamed for “stealing jobs from the West” and the recruitment drive coincides with increased scrutiny on the US labour front as visa rules are tightening.
Companies planning to recruit in the US include MindTree and India’s largest software exporter Tata Consultancy Services.
The Indian outsourcing industry employs almost three million people across the globe and in the past five years, the industry created 280,000 jobs in the US, said the vice-president of the association, Ameet Nivsarkar.
