A woman who illegally operated an employment agency in Singapore was jailed for seven years last week as she had “tricked” the authorities into providing work permits for foreign workers, Asia One reports.
The accused 39-year old Chua Mei Chern had robbed workers off their pay and operated an unlicensed employment agency under the name SSS Employment Services. She charged jobseekers high registration fees although most of them were unable to get a job.
Chua Mei Chern was arrested in November 2011, and pleaded guilty.
